Call For Short Papers
The aim of the CDMS workshop is to bring together database researchers, practitioners, developers and users from academia, business and industry to discuss and explore the area of building database management systems with emphasis on composability and reusability. The second edition of the workshop invites submission of short papers that are relevant to the theme of the workshop. The scope of the work presented in the papers includes novel or work-in-progress ideas, proposal of a new algorithm or approach, a novel composable data management (DM) system and experiences and lessons learned from building composable DM systems and more.
The list of topics of interest are as follows (the list is by no means exhaustive):
- Unified data models that cater to a wide range of data shapes, types and use cases
- Standard language support. Support for both deferred mode execution (SQL) and eager/interactive development (e.g. REPL, host language execution (Python/PyTorch)) Uniform operation semantics for interoperability across systems
- Engineering modular DM system components like parser, query optimizer, execution engine and transaction coordinator
- Query Processing and Optimization Techniques for composable DM systems
- Query Execution Techniques for composable DM systems
- Standardization of exchange protocols and API for different modules of DM systems
- Open source efforts for sharing composable DM modules
Short Paper Submission
All papers will be reviewed by the Program Committee and will be evaluated for technical quality, relevance to the theme of the workshop, originality and clarity. The submitted papers must not be previously published in a refereed journal or conference or workshop and must not be under consideration by any other conference or journal or workshop during the review process. If the paper is accepted, at least one author must complete the workshop registration and attend the workshop to present the paper. Both remote or in-person mode attendance are possible, in accordance with the VLDB conference guidelines. The duration of each presentation is 10 minutes. Accepted papers will be published in the workshop online proceedings through CEUR-WS.org.
Formatting Guidelines For Short Paper Submission
The number of pages for the papers is limited to 7 at the most with the following constraint: the main content excluding the references should not exceed more than 6 pages. The optional 7th page should be used only to include references. The papers should be formatted using the PVLDB style template. Following the PVLDB website, the following templates are available that include the style file and a sample as zip and overleaf project:
Papers exceeding the page limit will be rejected without review. The papers can optionally include an appendix but the reviewers might choose not to take it into consideration during the review process.
Submission Instructions for Short Papers
All the papers should be submitted electronically. The following should be emailed to before the deadline:
- PDF of paper
